NTP/Time calibration
Contents
Where, when, and with what time standard the HS/FS is synchronised, is set here. In addition, the HS/FS date and time can be sent to the EIB.

If there is an active connection to the Internet, then the date and time of the HS/FS can be synchronised daily with an NTP server (NTP: Network Time Protocol). In addition, automatic synchronisation with an NTP server is performed on startup. Both the date and the time are synchronised. When using this option, we recommend using an Internet provider that charges at one-second intervals.

As an alternative, the HS/FS can also receive the date and time from the EIB.

Important: The HS/FS automatically switches over from summer to winter time. A connection to an NTP server is not required for this purpose! The automatic changeover to winter time only takes place if the HS/FS is switched on continuously on the last Sunday in October from 01:59 a.m. to 03:01 a.m.! In addition, it is also possible to set a time zone.

Central European summer time always begins on the last Sunday in March at 2 a.m. Central European Time (CET). At the point in time of the start of summer time, the hours setting is advanced by one hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Central European summer time always ends on the last Sunday in October at 3 a.m. Central European Time (CET). At the end of summer time, the hours setting is set back by one hour from 3 a.m. to 2 a.m. The hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. appears twice.

If the specified time synchronisation options are not available, it is possible to set the time with the Date and time mask of the HS/FS. The mask can be created in the HS/FS interface and changed by the user.

1.Synchronise with NTP server

Yes: Date and time of the HS/FS are synchronised via an NTP server on the Internet.
Important
If this option is selected, then the NTP server is queried daily and on startup; connection charges may be incurred depending on the Internet provider set! Status variables are set during synchronisation.
Important
If the clock is set into the future beyond the point in time of the calibration time stored in Expert, time calibration is carried out immediately!

Point in time of calibration (hh:mm)

At this point in time, the time standard is queried daily on the Internet and the HS/FS is set to this value.
Note
A point in time between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. is not possible.

Waiting time (in sec.)

Time in seconds. The current time of the HS/FS is only changed if the deviation between the time of the HS/FS and the time of the TimeServer is greater than the waiting time.
Important
The waiting time is NOT allowed after start-up when restarting the HS/FS. Rather, it is only taken into account during cyclical time calibration.

Address of the NTP server

This server is used for synchronisation. If a server cannot be reached, the alternative NTP server is used.
The HS/FS uses the SNTP time protocol.
Note
The following list of NTP servers was tested with the HS/FS. Please note that the specified NTP servers may not be reachable temporarily. Enter 2 different servers in this mask if possible. No guarantee shall be assumed for the correctness of the addresses!
The TimeServers return the current time as GMT +1:
ptbtime1.ptb.de
ntps1-0.cs.tu-berlin.de
ntp1.fau.de

Alternative NTP server

Connect to Internet

Yes: The HS/FS establishes a connection to the Internet if no connection to the Internet exists at the point in time of calibration.

2.Date/time received from EIB

Yes: HS/FS can be synchronised by a clock, e.g. DCF 77.

Communication object for date

The date is received from this communication object. A 3-byte EIB data format is expected.

Communication object for time

The time is received from this communication object. A 3-byte EIB data format is expected.

Max. receiving difference (in sec.)

The date and time consist of 2 telegrams in the EIB. The current time of the HS/FS is only changed if the receiving difference between the two EIB telegrams is less than the maximum receiving difference specified here.

Waiting time (in sec.)

The current time of the HS/FS is only changed if the deviation between the time of the HS/FS and the time of the TimeServer is greater than the waiting time.

3.Send date/time to EIB

Yes: The HS/FS date and time can be sent cyclically to the EIB. All devices that understand the 3-byte EIB data format can be synchronised with it.
Note
The day of week is also sent together with the date.

Communication object for date

The date is sent to this communication object. A 3-byte EIB data format is expected.

Communication object for time

The time is sent to this communication object. A 3-byte EIB data format is expected.

Send cyclically

The data is sent to the EIB at this interval. In addition, the option Sending only possible via commands is also available.
