E-mail
Contents
The HS/FS uses sending via E-mail for the following data:
- Alarm messages
- Data archive
- Message archive
- Camera images
- EIB Monitor
- Status pages
- System lists
Note
All settings (e.g. ports used, names of the POP3 and SMTP server) are usually specified on the provider's Internet page.

1.Definitions

  • POP / POP3
    Post Office Protocol
A protocol via which e-mails can be picked up from an e-mail server.
    POP3 = Version 3 of this protocol.
    Requires authentication.
  • SMTP
    Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
A protocol via which e-mails can be sent to an e-mail server which forwards them to the actual recipients. Does not require authentication.
  • TLS
    Transport Layer Security
  • SSL
    Secure Sockets Layer
    The previous name of TLS
  • STARTTLS
    Compound of "Start" and "TLS".
  • POP before SMTP
Because some older SMTP servers do not have their own authentication methods, a POP3 connection (which requires authentication) is established first when using them. An SMTP connection is not established until this occurs.

Use e-mail sending

Yes: E-mail sending is enabled for the project.
Note
If e-mail sending is used in the project, it can no longer be deactivated here!

Connection security

The following connection types are supported by HS/FS:
Note
So that each method can be used, it must also be supported by the selected provider.

SMTP server

Sending via e-mail occurs via this server.

2.IP port

The HS/FS communicates with the e-mail server via this port.
See also the list at the end of this document.

Own e-mail address

A valid e-mail address for the sender is entered here.
Note
Depending on the configuration of the e-mail server, it is possible that the "Own e-mail address" must belong to the e-mail account with the following login data (user name/password)!

User name

The HS/FS logs in on the e-mail server with this name.

Password

The HS/FS logs in to the e-mail server with this password.

POP3 server

Address of the server for retrieving the e-mails; this address is only necessary for the POP before SMTP process. If in doubt, contact the network administrator or e-mail provider.
Important
The HS/FS does not receive or retrieve any e-mails; this setting is only to log on initially in combination with POP before SMTP!!
POP3 = Post Office Protocol - Version 3

Connect to Internet

Yes: The HS/FS establishes a connection to the Internet if no connection to the Internet exists at the time of sending.
This setting can only be made in conjunction with ISDN (see Project network).

3.Calling up the debug page when starting the HS/FS

Important
When automatically sending debug pages by e-mail when starting the HS/FS, it must be ensured that the call doesn't occur until the internal system communication object "System (after start always 1)" is set to 1 because the data on the debug page could otherwise be incomplete or faulty.
